Our curriculum is designed to be completed within two years of full-time study.
Is the GRE required for the application process?
The GRE is not required for applicants.
Can I transfer into the program?
The College of Health Professions does not accept transfer students. On a case-by-case basis, the admissions committee will review graduate coursework to award credit. Please view the for full information about transfer credit policies and procedures.
Is there a separate application process for students interested in pursuing the research track?
No. All students who are interested in the Master of Science in Psychology: Clinical Counseling program submit one application and complete the same process. However, students interested in strengthening their research skills while pursuing the Master of Science in Psychology: Clinical Counseling can apply to the Research Track of the Clinical Counseling program. Students accepted into the Research Track will complete the usual curriculum of the Master of Science in Psychology: Clinical Counseling with certain modifications. Please note that only students who obtained a grade of A or B in an undergraduate statistics class and an undergraduate research methods course, will be eligible for the Research Concentration.
Is there specific coursework for students who are admitted to Research Track Option of the Master of Science in Psychology: Clinical Counseling?
Yes. Students accepted to the Research Track will complete the core curriculum of the MS in Clinical Counseling program with the following modifications:
Will students accepted to the Research Track still be required to complete a clinical practicum/internship?
Students completing the Research Track must still complete a 700-hour clinical internship and practicum in their second year, and must also complete a minimum of six hours of elective studies.
After completing the MS in Clinical Counseling program, will I be eligible for state licensure?
Yes. All students who successfully complete the MS in Clinical Counseling program will satisfy the educational requirements for national counselor certification and licensure in the State of Illinois.
Federal regulations require Rosalind Franklin University to publicly disclose, for each educational program designed to meet educational requirements for a specific professional license or certification required for employment in an occupation (or advertised as meeting those requirements), information about whether program completion would meet those requirements in a state. .
Do students who complete the MS in Clinical Counseling program sit for national counselor certification?
Yes. Upon entering their second year of graduate study, students in the MS in Clinical Counseling program are automatically added to a roster for NBCC’s pre-approved degree-granting program. NBCC will contact students directly to invite them to apply to sit for the NCC credential.
