Dr. Sohel Ahmed completed his Neurology Residency at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2012 followed by a Neurocritical Care Fellowship at Rush University Medical Center. He is board certified in Neurology and Neurocritical Care. Dr. Ahmed’s clinical and research areas of focus are neuro emergencies, strokes, status epilepticus and neurocritical care. He was the founder and director of the Neurocritical Care program for five years at Bon Secours Mercy Health Neurosciences Institute in Ohio, during which Neurology and Neuro Endovascular fellowships were established and the center became the highest volume referral facility for strokes and neuro emergencies in northwestern Ohio and the most sought-after program for Neurology electives for medical students.
He currently serves as Medical Director of Neurocritical Care and Stroke Center at Cook County Health System. He is an author for the Textbook of Neurocritical Care by the Neurocritical Care Society and the lead author on the Acute Ischemic Stroke module of ENLS (Emergency Neurological Life Support) certification. Dr. Ahmed is the Education Director of the neurology clerkship and sub-internship at Chicago Medical School, co-director of the Neurobehavioral Health course and was recently appointed to the University Faculty Senate at Rosalind Franklin University.
